An great opportunity to attend a volunteer project of the European Solidarity Corps program with Creative center "Alternative Reality" in Latvia. The volunteer will be for 50 days and will be hosted by the Creative center "Alternative Reality". The participation of young volunteers in the festival is co-financed by the European Commission’s European Solidarity Corps, which is administered by the Agency for International Youth Programs in Latvia.
About Riga
Riga was founded in 1201 and is a former Hanseatic League member. Riga's historical centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, noted for its Art Nouveau/Jugendstil architecture and 19th century wooden architecture. In 2016, Riga received over 1.4 million visitors. The city is served by Riga International Airport, the largest and busiest airport in the Baltic states. Riga is a member of Eurocities, the Union of the Baltic Cities (UBC) and Union of Capitals of the European Union (UCEU).
About the Project
Creative center "Alternative Reality" invites 20 active and open young people from Latvia, Europe, and EU partner countries to join the volunteer team project " Count of May 2023: united in diversity " the purpose of the project is to acquire new skills in organizing large creative events and working in a large international team, promoting solidarity, tolerance and inclusion for all.
As part of the project, volunteers are invited to:
- Organizing various workshops and activities for children and youth in Latvia.
- Practicing sports and active games with young people.
To promote European values, active citizenship, civic responsibility and public service.
- Spreading ideas about Europe, friendship between peoples and peaceful coexistence.
- Organizing performances and theatrical performances.
- Teaching young people leadership skills and providing knowledge about the European Union and European integration.
- Promoting cultural diversity and breaking stereotypes about the countries of origin of volunteers.
Finance and Benefits
- There is no participation fee.
- Travel expenses from your home country to Latvia will be reimbursed after participation in the project according to the distance between your place to the volunteering activity as follows:
- If the distance is less than 100 km you are entitled to 20 € reimbursement.
- If the distance is less than 500 km you are entitled to 180 € reimbursement.
- If the distance is (500 - 1999) km you are entitled to 275 € reimbursement.
- The accommodation and food will be provided by Creative center "Alternative Reality".
- Small pocket money for personal expenses (4 euros per day).
- support for learning Local language.
IMPORTANT: do not forget to keep all your travel documents! Online boarding passes and tickets can also be forwarded via e-mail. No documents = no reimbursement!
Who can Apply?
- The participant must be between 18 and 30 years old.
- want to learn, like to work with young people and creative ideas.
- Organizational skills are considered very useful as well as the ability to communicate in English.
- People with singing, dancing, Musical instrument playing skills are welcome.
- Be comfortable living alone and able to adapt to new situations.
- Have good problem-solving skills or are ready to improve them during the project.
