About EFA 2023
The European Forum Alpbach 2023 is an excellent for students, young professionals, and change makers to attend a variety of scientific, competence based and artistic seminars, enjoy a high-level conference programme as well as social and cultural activities in the village of Alpbach in Austria.
EFA itself and Forum Alpbach Network (FAN) award around 400 scholarships every year for the youth from all over the world to attend EFA.
About Alpbach
Alpbach, which has been declared as the “most beautiful village of Austria”, is located in the eponymous valley at the foot of Mt. Gratlspitz. The unique village is world-renowned for scientific and political exchange. Great thinkers and clever minds are drawn to the Congress Centrum in Alpbach for the annual European Forum Alpbach.
Finance and Benefits
- There is no application fee to apply.
- Scholarships for the EFA 2023 cover participation fee and accommodation for the entire duration.
- the most accommodations have shared rooms (two to six people in a room).
- EFA Scholarship holders will receive a daily allowance of 20 EUR/day.
- Travel costs to and from Alpbach have to be covered by you, as well as health care and travel insurance.
- Some Clubs within the forum Alpbach Network offer a reimbursement of travel costs and/ or daily allowances to their scholarships holders.
Eligibility
- All youth from all countries and disciplines are eligible to apply for EFA scholarship.
- Age limit between 18 and 30 years old, and up to 35 for African applicants.
Note: Scholarships are open to all applicants born before 19.08.2005 and all applicants born after 03.09.1992 and 03.09.1987 for applicants from Africa.
- You haven’t received a scholarship from the European Forum Alpbach yet.
- You are able to communicate in English fluently (minimum level B2 of common European Framework of Reference).
- You should prove your proficiency in English and there are several ways to prove that
- proof that you studied or are studying in an English- speaking country.
- Your academic degree is taught entirely in English.
- You have a language certificate (e.g., IELTS, TOEFL, CPE, CAE, or MUET)
- You are a native speaker. You are considered a native speaker if you are from on of the following countries (Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Canada, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Ireland, Jamaica, New Zealand, South Africa, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, United Kingdom, United States of America)
- A confirmation by your school, employer, or a university professor, explicitly stating that you have reached B2 or an equivalent to B2
- You are ready and available to attend to attend the European Forum Alpbach 2023 for a minimum of 12 days.
- Alpbach welcome applicants from all academic disciplines and encourage strongly Artists and non-graduates to apply.
Required Documents
- CV and Motivational statement ( for your motivation statement you have to answer for these questions What motivates you to take part in EFA23? Explain which track(s) you are most interested in and how you will contribute, in terms of perspectives, ideas and knowledge, to its discussions).
- Proof of your English B2 level as shown above in Eligibility section.
- Latest diploma or transcript of records or proof of employment. If your transcript or certificate is in a language other than German or English, you need to submit a translation. This translation does not need to be certified.
Timeline
Deadline: Applications close 31 March 2023 (12:00 pm)
Results: Announcement of results will be by end on May 2023.
Arrival: Arrival day is 19 August 2023
Departure: Departure day is 2 September 2023
