Youth Summer Fest - Second Edition in Timisoara, Romania (Fully Funded)

Youth Summer Fest - Second Edition in European Capital for Cultural 2023, Timisoara. This volunteering project will be hosted and organised by Timis County Youth Foundation(FITT). This project is co- funded by European Solidarity Corps of European Union.



About the project

This year, Timișoara is the European Capital of Culture, making it the perfect year for you to be part of this volunteering team!

The volunteering activity will take ONE MONTH, from the 15th of July until the 15th of August. As volunteers, you will focus on supporting all the events that are already planned for the Youth Summer Fest. You will be split into teams of at least 10 people, based on your skills and interest to help out and be impactful. The volunteering activity consists of 5 working days/week, 30-38 hours/week. 

There are three main areas you can work on, and you will get to choose the areas you have experience in, or that you would like to learn more about. Please note that you will be distributed to ONE of these three teams, according to your preferences, and that will be your main responsibility. Besides this, FITT will organise big events like concerts or theatre shows, to promote your activities within the festival.

About Timisoara

Timisoara is a city in the Banat region in western Romania. It is the capital of the Timish Governorate. Timish is a river located near this city. Being the European Capital of Culture for this year (2023), you can experience a diverse amount of events and activities throughout the city, be it music, art or other topics. Timisoara has got many things to offer, such as:

- Impressive heritage from different epochs and cultures.

- A rich cultural history.

- Agitated and fun nights in the popular clubs.

- Refined evenings in elegant restaurants.


Finance and Benefits

Your accommodation will be provided by FITT. You will stay for 1 month in one of the student dorms of Timisoara.

Facilities of the accommodation will be with shared bedrooms, 4-5 beds per room, shared kitchen and bathroom, a chill space outside and internet connection.

The meals will be your responsibility: you will have a kitchen to use and you’ll receive 5 EUR – food allowance /day.

- You have a pocket money too, 3 EUR/day (this money you will receive in Romanian currency in cash, or by bank transfer).

All the volunteers involved in the project will benefit from health insurance issued by the insurance company under the European Solidarity Corps.

Travel expenses will also be covered through the project, based on the amounts established under the programme. Maximum travel reimbursements (round trip) will be as following depends on the distance you have to travel

  • for travel distance between 0 and 99 km: 23 EUR / person
  • for travel distance between 100 and 499 km : 180 EUR / person , +30 EUR extra for Green Travel
  • for travel distance between 500 and 1999 km : 275 EUR / person , +45 EUR extra for Green Travel
  • for travel distance between 2000 and 2999 km : 360 EUR / person , +50 EUR extra for Green Travel

Eligibility

- Young Person between 18 and 30 years old. 

You are an European Solidarity Corps programme and partner countries resident (EU countries + Iceland, North Macedonia, Turkey, Liechtenstein + Albania, Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Egypt, Georgia, Jordan, Kosovo, Lebanon, Libya, Moldova, Montenegro, Morocco, Norway, Palestine, Russia, Serbia, Syria, Tunisia, Ukraine).

- Able to communicate in English

- Want to Implement and facilitate activities.


What to Bring?

ID - Passport or any other document you use for travel.

- Towels, flip flops, hygiene products, and a hairdryer, if you need one.

- Medicine, if you have any specific illness or medical condition.

- Come loaded with creativity, energy and patience, as there is a lot to do.

Your national flag, Some traditional clothes, Food and traditional drinks from your region, The recipe of traditional dish(es), and Personal stories you would like to share. 

- A short presentation with the most relevant info about your country (the main cities, the most visited places, local traditions, creative games or quizzes).

Application deadline: 15/05/2023 for non-EU residents, and 15/06/2023 for EU residents

Team building: 15-17th of July, 2023

Organising Activities: between 17th of July to 12th of August, 2023

International youth day: 12th of August, 2023

Evaluation: 13-14th of August, 2023

The End: 15th of August, 2023
