Türkiye Scholarships 2024 | Study in Türkiye for free

Open call for all students from all over the world who are interested in studying (Bachelor's, Masters's, or PhD) in Türkiye for free by a fully funded scholarship from the Turkish government. Türkiye Scholarships does not only include a study grant, but also provides university placement for outstanding international students at all levels of higher education.

About the Higher Education in Türkiye

Turkish universities offer Associate's degree, Bachelor's degree, Graduate and Post-graduate programs.There are more than 200 universities in Turkey, and most of these universities were established in the past few decades. In 1970, there were only 8 public universities. Public and private universities in Turkey are in line with the Bologna Agreement, which standardizes degree programs across Europe. Many Turkish universities participate in Erasmus+ program, which supports international student exchanges other universities in Europe. Turkey’s higher education system was ranked 43rd in the world according to the last edition of QS Higher Education System.Turkish universities allow studies in Turkish, English, Arabic and some other languages such as German and French. the top universities in turkey are Middle East Technical university, Boğaziçi Üniversitesi, Koç University, Bilkent University, Sabanci University, Hacettepe University, Istanbul Technical University and Istanbul University.

About Türkiye Scholarships 2024

Türkiye Scholarships is a government-funded, competitive scholarship program, awarded to outstanding students and researchers from all around the world to pursue full-time or short-term programs at the top universities in Türkiye. Türkiye Scholarships is for around 5000 new scholarships awarded each year. 

Eligibility criteria

- Türkiye scholarships are available to citizens from all the countries around the world.

- Minimum level of academic achievement required:

• Bachelor’s degree applicants: 70% in High school for all the fields except Health sciences (Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy), you need 90% grade in your High school. 

•  Master’s and Phd degree applicants: 75% in your Bachelor's degree

- ‡ Minimum age criteria:

• Under the age of 21 for Undergraduate programs
• Under the age of 30 for Master’s programs
• Under the age of 35 for PhD programs
• Under the age of 50 for Research programs

Note: Students who are currently studying in Türkiye may not apply for their current level of study.

Required Documents

-  A valid identification card (ID) or a valid passport

-  A recent photo for the candidate 

- Diploma or temporary certificate of graduation from High school or University 

- International exam scores (GRE, GMAT, etc. if required by the chosen program)

- Language test scores ( IELTS, TOEFL, TOIEC, etc. if required by the chosen program)

-  National exam scores (if any)

- A research proposal and an example of your written work (for PhD applicants only)

Scholarship Award and Benefits

- University and Program Placement (the Scholarship will cover the Tuition fee)

- Monthly stipend to help each student in the personal expenses as follows:

• Undergraduate level: 3500 TL per month
• Master's level: 5000 TL per month 
• PhD level: 6500 TL per month 
• Turkish Language Program: 10,000 TL per month 
• Research Scholarships: 12000 TL per month

- Free accommodation in the university dormitories 

- Health Insurance for the whole period of the scholarship 

- Turkish language course for one year

- Once-off flight ticket 

- Besides university education, cultural and professional development of students is also supported with:

• Cultural activities 
• Internship opportunities 
• Seminar Programs in cooperation with universities and NGOs

For Undergraduate and Postgraduate scholarship 

Application period: 10 January - 20 February 2024

Evaluation process: March - April - May 2024

Interview Period: June - July 2024

Announcement of Results: Early August 2024

Agreement and Visa Procedures: August 2024

Travel to Türkiye / Beginning of the Academic Year: September 2024

Note: Applicants who are selected must take into account that they will receive their results in the summer months and must make necessary arrangements in their home country, so as to be able to obtain their graduation documents and diplomas before their travel to Türkiye.
