Open call for 44 volunteers from Europe and the neighbouring countries to join an amazing team volunteering project "Youth Summer Fest - Third Edition" for one month in Timisoara, Romania. This program is organised by "Timis County Youth Foundation" and funded by the European Solidarity Corps program of the European Union.

About Timisoara

Timisoara is a special city. Everybody feels it, whether they are native residents or newcomers who choose to make it their home. As a true it's a youth city, Timisoara received the title of National Youth Capital. Timisoara also was the European Capital of Culture in 2023. you can still experience a diverse amount of events and activities throughout the city, be it music, art, or other topics.

Timisoara has many things to offer, such as:

Impressive heritage from different times and cultures;

A rich cultural history;

Agitated and fun nights in the popular clubs;

Refined evenings in elegant restaurants.


About "Youth Summer Fest - 3rd Edition"

Applications open for 44 participants to travel to Romania and join the annual Youth Summer Festival in Timisoara. potential volunteers enliven the streets, parks, and youth centers across Timisoara, Lugoj, and Jebel with a variety of events and activities, all arranged by and for the youth.

From heart-pounding concerts to peaceful park picnics, engaging educational workshops, and lively sports challenges, there's something for everyone aged 14 to 35. And this year, we're extending beyond just Timișoara! As a volunteer, you'll have the unique opportunity to shape this festival with your talents and activity proposals, bringing them to rural areas and smaller towns.

You'll be involved in organising, assisting with implementation, promoting, and personally experiencing all these events, leading up to the grand finale on August 12th, where we'll unite to celebrate International Youth Day with music, art, stories, and endless fun!


Project activities

There are three main work areas, allowing you to select based on your expertise or interest in learning more. Please submit your portfolio where relevant. You'll be assigned to one of these three teams, which will be your main focus. Additionally, FITT will host major events such as concerts or theater shows to showcase your festival activities."

Facilitation: Prepare and deliver the events, workshops, and activities with youth, that will be suggested by you, evaluate the event and the impact of it, report the activity, provide the needed information about the activity for the magazine and other promotion means, etc.

Media and Promotion: Take photos and videos, write articles, create a magazine dedicated to the festival, create content for the online promotion, go in the city for offline promotion with flyers, posters, diverse flash mobs, and creative ideas to promote the festival.

Logistics for the events: Help to prepare the spaces, set up the equipments, make lists of materials needed for the festival, help with transportation, collect the logistics after the end of the events, keep the storage rooms clean, and maintain an overview of the equipment we have for the festival.


Eligibility

- Young people aged between 18-30 years old.

- A citizen or a resident in one of the following countries ( Albania, Armenia, Austria, Algeria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Belgium, Bulgaria, Belarus, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Egypt, Finland, France, Greece, Germany, Georgia, Hungary, Italy, Ireland, Iceland, Jordan, Lebanon, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Latvia, Libya, Morocco, Moldova (Republic of), Montenegro, Malta, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Norway, Poland, Palestine, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Slovenia, Serbia, Slovakia, Tunisia, Türkiye, Ukraine).

- Able to communicate and work in English.

- Open minded, flexible, and tolerant.

- Able to attend all the activities during the entire period of the project.


Expenses and Benefits

- Volunteers will be accommodated in shared rooms, 4-5 beds per room in a students dormitory.

- Volunteers have access to shared bathrooms, shared kitchen, a chill space outside and internet connection.

The meals will be your responsibility, you will have a kitchen to use and you’ll receive 5 EUR/ day in Romanian currency in cash or by bank transfer.

- Each participant will receive 4 EUR/day as a pocket money.

Travel expenses to and from Timisoara, Romania will be reimbursed after participation in the project according to the distance between your  travelling place to the volunteering venue as follows:
  • for travel distance between 10 and 99 km: 23 EUR / person, no Green travel available.
  • for travel distance between 100 and 499 km: 180 EUR / person, +30 EUR extra for Green travel.
  • for travel distance between 500 and 1999 km: 275 EUR / person, +45 EUR extra for Green travel.
  • for travel distance between 2000 and 2999 km: 360 EUR / person, +50 EUR extra for Green travel.
  • for travel distance between 3000 and 3999 km: 530 EUR / person, +80 EUR extra for Green travel

  • IMPORTANT: keep all your travel documents! Online boarding passes and tickets for reimbursements. No documents = No reimbursement!
  • IMPORTANT: Please send your travel proposition per e-mail to the organisers and wait for their confirmation before purchasing your tickets!
- Participants are entitled to receive Youthpass certificate after finishing the project.


What to bring?

- ID or Passport or any other document you use for travel.

- Towels, flip flops, hygiene products, and a hairdryer, if you need one.

- Medicine, if you have any specific illness or medical condition.

- Your flight tickets, bus tickets, train tickets, or any proof you have that you came to Timisoara.

- Things to bring with you for the intercultural nights (Your national flag, some traditional clothes, food and traditional drinks from your region, the recipe of traditional dish).


Timeline

Application deadline: 25th of  March for candidates who need a visa for Romania, and 30th of April for candidates don't need a visa.

Selection result: 1st of April for candidates who need a visa and 10th of May for candidates don't need a visa.

Arrival day: 14th of July 2024

Departure day: 16th of August 2024
