Creating an Environmental Educational Center | ESC Volunteering in Spain (Fully Funded)

An exciting opportunity for 12 young people from across Europe to join a two week volunteering project "Creating an Environmental Educational Center in Valencia, Spain. This volunteering project will be organised by NTERPRETA NATURA association and funded by the European Solidarity Corps Programme of the European Union.

About the volunteering

This project takes place at the municipal hostel Bassa Barreta in Vilamarxant (Valencia), which is an information centre open to the public people , where associative groups can stay for free during the day light from 9:00 to 15:00.  The volunteers will be asked for about 30 working hours per week in activities aim to conserve the environment within a natural park and improve environmental educational materials. Close to the Bassa Barreta hostel, there is a trail is being revived, Volunteers will help in transforming it into an environmental education area. Additionally, the  plan include creating a kids' playground, build bird nesting boxes and plant mycorrhizal trees.  The primary language during the project will be English, but also the organisers can coomunicate in Spanish and French. 

The volunteer will do physical activities for 5 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon for exploring, learning about flora and fauna. The rest of the day is free time to explore the region or for cleaning and kitchen shifts. 


Eligibility | Who can apply?

This volunteering project is open for 12 participants who fit with the following requirements: 

- Aged between 18 - 30 years old.

- A citizen or a resident for one of the following countries (Albania, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Belgium, Bulgaria, Belarus, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Germany, Denmark, Algeria, Estonia, Egypt, Greece, Spain, Finland, France, Georgia, Croatia, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Iceland, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Latvia, Libya, Morocco, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Palestine, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Russian Federation, Sweden, Slovenia, Slovakia, Syria, Tunisia, Türkiye, Ukraine, Kosovo)

- Sociable and respectful people can live with other people from different backgrounds and cultures.

-  Eager to learn and participate in the environmental conservation.

- No experience is needed just be motivated.

- Have a good level in English, Spanish or French.

- Ready to participate in the whole duration of the project.


Expenses and Benefits

- The volunteers will be accommodated at hostel Bassa Barreta in Vilamarxant (Valencia) in shared rooms (4 beds per stay). The hostel includes separate bathrooms for men and women. 

- The food will be organic and provided by the host organisation from Monday to Friday, the volunteers need to cook the food using the equipped kitchen. The weekends are free, so participants will get a food allowance to buy their food.

- Each participant are entitled to receive a 5 euro as a pocket money per day.

Besides the European Health insurance card you are going to be offered a private insurance from HENNER too.

Your travel expenses will be reimbursed according to the distance between your home and Spain according to the following limits:

  • for travel distance between 100 and 499 km: 180 EUR / person, +30 EUR extra for Green travel.
  • for travel distance between 500 and 1999 km: 275 EUR / person, +45 EUR extra for Green travel.
  • for travel distance between 2000 and 2999 km: 360 EUR / person, +50 EUR extra for Green travel.

  • IMPORTANT: keep all your travel documents! Online boarding passes and tickets for reimbursements. No documents = No reimbursement!
  • IMPORTANT: Please send your travel proposition per e-mail to the organisers and wait for their confirmation before purchasing your tickets!
- Participants are entitled to receive a YouthPass certificate after the project where you are expected to self-assess your own learning and you can add it to your CV.



What to Bring ?

Passport or ID
- Travel tickets, boarding passes, and invoices
- European Health Insurance Card if you have it
- Comfortable indoor and outdoor clothes
- Slippers, personal toiletries, and towels 
- Personal medicine - if you're taking any please let the organisers know in advance!
- optional: speaker, instruments, games, swimsuit

Note: The application can be close earlier if the host organisation received enough number of the applications, so don't wait until the last minute to apply.
