An excellent opportunity for 20 young people from Europe to join a short-term volunteering project "On the Path to Solidarity - International Summer Week 2024" in Cagliari, Italy for 27 days. This project is organised by "Associazione TDM 2000 ODV" and funded by the ESC program of the European Union.
About the project
"On the Path to Solidarity" is a short-term ESC Volunteering project aims to create a volunteering team of 20 young people (10 from Italy and 10 from other European Countries) that will assist in the preparation of an international youth event that will take place in Sardinia, Italy, during the summer, to foster local traditions and culture, encourage intercultural communication and understanding, and support youth activism and social entrepreneurship.
International Summer Week, which has been held for over 20 years, aims to bring together youth and youth workers from over 40 countries for a weeklong exploration of Sardinia, featuring a blend of educational and cultural activities. Each year, the event attracts an average of 150 participants. Volunteers commit to a 27-day period to assist with planning, execution, and evaluation. Their responsibilities include supporting internal and external communication, managing logistics, disseminating information, engaging participants, and facilitating targeted activities.
Eligibility | Who can apply?
- Young people aged between 18-30 years, preferably age 18-26 with exceptions possible;
- Able to communicate and speak in English;
- Able to attend the entire duration of the project of 27 days;
- Having a motivation to participate actively in the project and make the difference;
- Ability to work with others in an intercultural environment;
- Willing to learn new things and share with others;
- An interest in intercultural communication and dialogue;
- No special skills are required but everything additional is welcome.
Expenses and Benefits
- The host organisation will provide the accommodation, three meals per day and the local transports.
- You will get 5-6 Euros per day as a pocket money which can be used for your own expenses.
- Each participants will get international health insurance from "HENNER" during the participation in the project.
- Your international travel expenses will be reimbursed according to the distance between your home and Italy according to the following limits:
- for travel distance between 100 and 499 km: 180 EUR / person, +30 EUR extra for Green travel.
- for travel distance between 500 and 1999 km: 275 EUR / person, +45 EUR extra for Green travel.
- for travel distance between 2000 and 2999 km: 360 EUR / person, +50 EUR extra for Green travel.

- IMPORTANT: Please send your travel proposition per e-mail to the organisers and wait for their confirmation before purchasing your tickets!
- Participants are entitled to receive a YouthPass certificate after the project where you are expected to self-assess your own learning and you can add it to your CV.

Note: You have 4 extra days in total that you can use before or after the project to travel around Italy. If you wish to do so, bare in mind that you need to cover the costs for your accommodation & food. Late arrivals or early departures are not allowed.
