3 weeks Social School project | ESC Team Volunteering project in Gdynia, Poland (Fully Funded)

An open call for 15 volunteers from all over Europe to attend the short-term ESC "3 weeks Social School project" which takes place from June 1st to 17th of June 2025 in Gdynia, Poland. The aim of the project is to support the host organisation in Poland in organising the European Week "Let's meet" in a primary school. This volunteering project is organised by "Tacy Sami", coordinated by the "Centre for Youth Cooperation and Mobility", and funded by the European Solidarity Corps Programme of the European Union.


About the Organizer

This project is hosted by The Social School, an institution that uses alternative educational methods. The school caters to 160 children (ages 6-15), including those with special needs, such as sight impairment, autism, and other health challenges. Classes are taught using project-based methodologies, focusing on learning by experience in small groups.


About Gdynia

The project will take place in Gdynia, a vibrant city with modernist architecture located in the Tricity area (alongside Gdansk and Sopot). Gdynia is known for its beautiful beaches, cultural festivals, and youthful atmosphere, making it an exciting place for volunteers to explore both during and after their volunteering experience. Volunteers will live in shared flats across different districts of the city, creating an international and lively community of young people.


About the Volunteering

"3 weeks Social School project" is a short-term ESC Volunteering project aiming to bring 15 volunteers from all over Europe to organize the European week "Let's meet" in a primary school for kids (6-15) years old in Gdynia, Poland. This week will include workshops, personal encounters, games, plays and a lot of fun in an intercultural atmosphere. 

The aim of the event is to learn about other European countries, their culture, habits, differences, and similarities that we share. Volunteers’ tasks will include preparation and running:

 - country’s informative stands, games/plays from your country,

 - art activities – common pictures, painting and learning about your country's famous artists,

 - education system presentation of your country, -cooking workshop,

 - personal passions / free time activities presentation,

 - Presentation of country social activists: What do you fight for in our country? The programme also includes visits to students' homes for dinner or a snack!

Volunteers will work from Monday to Friday ( minimum 30 and maximum 38 hours per week), including training days, evaluation, and meetings in the coordinating organisation's office. On Saturdays and Sundays, you will have a free day. In addition, all volunteers will get one more day and all the volunteers must use it in the same time.


What will the volunteer learn?

Volunteers will 

- Get the opportunity to try working in an international group of people.

- Learn about Poland and other European countries

- Gain experience in working with kids from primary school

- Gain experience in organizing workshops, presentations, events, etc.

- Share your initiative and propose your own ideas, and be creative.

- Be part of a project that contributes to the local community.

- Gain friends from all over Europe.


Eligibility | Who can apply?

- Young people aged between 18-30 and a resident in one of the following countries (Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Ukraine) 

- Participant would like to share his/her culture;

- Open and interested in other people;

- enjoy working with children;

- Active, passionate, and creative.


Expenses and Benefits

- As a part of the European Solidarity Corps programme. The volunteers are provided with international travel costs, food, pocket money, and accommodation in the centre of Gdynia in shared flats. 

- You will get 4 EUR per day as a food allowance and 6 EUR per day as pocket money, so in total 10 EUR per day converted to PLN (Polish currency).

- Participants will be staying in two apartments, which are located in the city centre, just 200 meters from the train station and from the beach. 

- Participants will have the possibility to use WI-FI in the apartments. 

Travel costs are reimbursed to the participants against travel tickets and receipts. The amount will be calculated based on the participant's travel distance. Example of the maximum amount of travel reimbursement:

  • from 10 – 99 km - 56 EUR (Green Travel)/ 28 EUR (Non-Green Travel)
  • from 100 – 499 km - 285 EUR (Green Travel)/ 211 EUR (Non-Green Travel)
  • from 500 – 1999 km - 417 EUR (Green Travel)/ 309 EUR (Non-Green Travel)
  • from 2000 – 2999 km -  535 EUR (Green Travel)/ 395 EUR (Non-Green Travel)
  • from 3000 – 3999 km -  785 EUR (Green Travel)/ 580 EUR (Non-Green Travel)
- Volunteers are entitled to receive a Youthpass certificate after finishing the volunteering project.

How to get selected?

- Highlight your interest in sharing your culture and learning from others through activities.  

- If you’ve worked with kids before, whether in teaching, volunteering, or other activities, be sure to mention it.

- Share your ideas or examples of previous projects where you’ve used creativity, especially in educational or community settings, like running workshops or creating games.

- Show that you understand the importance of informal education and are committed to contributing to social causes or volunteering.

- Highlight your ability to collaborate with people from different backgrounds, as the project includes volunteers from across Europe and the chance to work with students with special needs.

- Ensure your application is thorough, with a motivational letter that explains why you’re a great fit for the project. Be sure to submit it before the deadline of 15th April.
