Host organization: "La Città dell'Utopia" was established in 2003 as a social laboratory, an experiment of popular education in active citizenship, in individual and communal engagement in the life of one's own region. It is a venue that is open to both global and regional ideas and is situated in the San Paolo-Ostiense neighbourhood of southern Rome. Social and cultural research centre that addresses the key problems associated with a new, fair, sustainable, and balanced approach to local and global development.
Every year in the City of Utopia, a two-day festival of debates, music, and cultural activities called "NO BORDER FEST" is held. Its focus is on immigration, freedom of movement, and the struggle against various types of racism.
About "No Border Fest 2023"
"No Border Fest 2023" is a two-day festival with talks, music, workshops, and cultural activities focused on the topic of migration, freedom of movement, and resistance against any type of racism. with the major themes of interculturality, sustainability, and active citizenship.
The volunteers will commit to helping with set and space preparation and construction both inside and outside the farmhouse. The logistical preparation of the Festival includes cooking, cleaning, gardening, etc.; the preparation for the promotion and visibility of the event involves leafleting, sticking up posters, preparing placards and signs for the festival, etc.
Finance and Benefits
The project is fully covered by European Solidarity Corps program and includes:
- The accommodation for the volunteers will be in the social hostel of Casale Garibaldi run by "La Città dell'Utopia".
- The volunteers will be in a mixed room with a maximum of 7 volunteers per room
- The staff will offer blankets and sheets, and all volunteers will share a restroom. In terms of space management, a kitchen will be made accessible so that everyone may prepare and dine together.
- The food will be vegetarian/ vegan.
- Each volunteer will receive 6 EUR per day as a pocket money.
- Travel expenses from your home country to project venue will be reimbursed after participation in the project according to the distance between your travelling place to the volunteering venue as follows:
- for travel distance between 0 and 99 km: 23 EUR / person.
- for travel distance between 100 and 499 km: 180 EUR / person, +30 EUR extra for Green travel.
- for travel distance between 500 and 1999 km: 275 EUR / person, +45 EUR extra for Green travel.
- for travel distance between 2000 and 2999 km: 360 EUR / person, +50 EUR extra for Green travel.
- IMPORTANT: keep all your travel documents! Online boarding passes and tickets for reimbursements. No documents = no reimbursement!
